3 Step EMDR Basic Training

STEP 1
Prerequisites

This course requires completion of prerequisite material before the first day of live training. This includes a preliminary lesson, orientation, and required reading.

STEP 2
Live Virtual Instruction

This event will be conducted as a LIVE online webinar. Thrive uses Zoom as its primary video conferencing platform. You will need a high-speed internet connection and a laptop equipped with a webcam, speakers, and microphone.

STEP 3
Consultation

Ten hours of consultation are required as part of any EMDRIA Approved Basic Training. Thrive has included the cost of these 10 hours of consultation as part of your basic training registration fee.

Instructors

Tony Powell

Tony is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Certified EMDR Therapist with more than 20 years of experience providing a variety of services to individuals and families including crisis services in the clinic and hospital setting, mental health and substance use outpatient services, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing treatment. Tony has worked with people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has extensive experience providing clinical supervision to licensed residents in counseling.

Kayla Schubert-Wirth

Kayla Schubert-Wirth (she/her) is a LCSW in Pennsylvania, EMDR Certified Therapist, and EMDRIA Approved Trainer. She owns a trauma-focused group therapy practice called Grit & Grace Psychotherapy, where all the clinicians are getting trained and certified in EMDR. She specializes in childhood trauma and Adult Children of Alcoholics. Having suffered from some of her own trauma as a child, she knew she needed to heal herself first before she could effectively help others. It was through her own EMDR work and healing that she has come to a place of strength and grace. And it is from this place that she has a genuine desire to help others who are trying to recover from difficult life circumstances.

TRAINING ELIGIBILITY

You must meet certain requirements to take EMDR Basic Training.

CONSULTATION

Ten hours of consultation are required as part of any EMDRIA Approved Basic Training.

CERTIFICATION

Once you have completed an EMDR Basic Training, you are considered to be an EMDR-trained clinician. EMDR Certification with EMDRIA is a separate process, and requires additional continuing education and consultation in EMDR.

CE CREDITS

Participants will receive 40 hours of continuing education credit upon completing the live training segment of this course.
