ABSTRACT
This action-based course is designed for EMDR clinicians to immediately begin working with children and their families, demystifying the process of somatic work with kids. Presented by Bethany Matheson, M.Ed., LPC/MHSP, an EMDR trainer and trauma-informed yoga teacher, the training emphasizes the integration of Somatic-Focused EMDR and child development principles.
OBJECTIVES
Identify and articulate the overlap between child development and EMDR case conceptualization using the AIP model
Understand and utilize appropriate modifications of the 8-phase protocol for working with children ages 2-17
Integrate a somatic-focused approach and somatic communication in EMDR to meet developmental needs across EMDR’s 8 phases
Create adaptive and fluid target plans to address unique needs of children
Understand and utilize EMD vs. EMDR for processing trauma with children in phases 4-6
Apply somatic-focused EMDR to holistically treat family systems and multi-generational trauma
